Chinese EV battery giant CATL files initial HKEX listing application

The Shenzhen-headquartered lithium-ion battery maker has named seven banks involved in the listing process.

Shenzhen-headquartered electric vehicle battery firm Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited known as CATL has filed an application to make an initial public offering IPO on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange HKEX.

In its filing CATL, which is already listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange, said it made Rmb64.7 billion $8.86 billion profit of the nine months ending September 30, 2024. It said that as of November 2024 its lithium-ion batteries had been installed in 17 million cars worldwide, or around one in every three electric vehicles.
